Our Heritage
Pearl was first conceived in 1998 when Iain Smallridge, an experienced captain, and John Yarnold, a local businessman, began building 41’ and 45’ aft cabin yachts. They set their standards high, endeavoring to compete with the best yacht builders in the world.
It all started in Stratford-upon-Avon – Shakespeare’s hometown – with the aim of designing and producing yachts for the discerning English sea lover.
In 2003, Margaret & Tony Whittaker, both entrepreneurs and yachting enthusiasts, decided to invest in the brand, introducing their vision to produce a range of sleek, stylish flybridge yachts that would attract the attention of yacht buyers on the Mediterranean and beyond.
Our Heritage

Paul Hannah was appointed Production Director and the new range became reality, beginning with the Pearl 55, which premiered at the Southampton boat show in 2004 and continuing with the Pearl 60. The development and growth of Pearl continues today, with exteriors by world-renowned naval architect Bill Dixon, exclusive interiors by Kelly Hoppen CBE and a global team of yachting professionals behind the brand.
Today, more than a hundred yachts built and delivered by Pearl over the past 25 years are sailing the seven seas.
Paul Hannah was appointed Production Director and the new range became reality, beginning with the Pearl 55, which premiered at the Southampton boat show in 2004 and continuing with the Pearl 60.
